I Miss My Little Fur Babies

I have had several babies that are no longer with me and it never gets any easier. I had one cat creamated and I keep her close to me here at home. Right now on the mantle of the fireplace to keep warm. In the summer on the bedroom window sill where she can enjoy the sun. They are always in our hearts, but as the holidays approach I especially miss them.

I have a little story that I would like to share with everyone. It makes me cry but it also helps me to look forward to the time I will see them again. Some of you may have heard it, but for those who haven't here it is.

The Story Of The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hill for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are4 made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one smalll thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run f rom the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally neet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress their beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart..

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

So even though I miss them, I know this day will come and there are no words to explain what my heart will feel . So I hope this story will give someone who misses there pet, a little comfort knowing that this day will come and we will all be joyously reunited.

So sad, but I could feel the love. I wish our pets could live as long as we can, or at least twice as long as they do. I grew up with a couple of dogs, and they both died before I was sixteen - not that I was still there, but it is terrible for a kid to lose the animal they have grown to love as a sibling, or best friend. Why can't they live a solid 20 years at least?

Speaking on behalf of others, as I was in a different situation in my life (kinda like empathy) but:
If your pet is your best friend, and they are there when you learn to walk, talk, not to wet the bed, and start your first day of school... Shouldn't they still be there when you lose your virginity, have a first date, go to prom, get your first car, first day of college, and get your first home?

That is just like I have imagined and hoped it would be! And, yes it made me cry. I miss all my fur babies so much. I live for the hope that there may be just such a reunion.

What a wonderful story...I like to think that I will see my babies again one day.
