I Guess I Shouldn't Say I Miss It

Technically I guess I don't really miss my C64, because I've got it sitting over in the corner of my living room, set up and ready to go, complete with dual 1541 drives, a 1581 drive, and an 1802 monitor. Ah, the memories of hours spent pouring over BASIC code, 6510 assembly language, and the occasional foray into PowerC and even Pascal64 (anyone else use that?). Being a software developer, I'm constantly amazed at the incredible creativity, panache, and ingenuity that programmers exhibited with the C64 in order to squeeze every single byte out of it. Nowadays, it's all too easy to throw caution to the wind and just say "hey, no problem, I'll just get some more memory from the heap". But in those days, you were limited. Despite the smaller memory size, there were still lots of programmers who found all sorts of clever ways to produce some amazing applications.

I still kick myself for not purchasing a CMD Ramlink or SuperCPU, though!
