I Miss My Dog
I had two dogs whom I loved dearly. I took them everywhere with me. I had a pickup truck, and put a cap on the back. I replaced the sides and back with screens. They would come with me to work every day, join me everywhere I went. My connection to them, particularly the younger one, was very special.
It has been a year since the older one died, three years since the younger one passed away. I'm thinking, planning, of getting another dog soon.
Today I came home from the gym and discovered two dogs, one who looked like my older dog, frolicking in my yard. After a while of playing with them, I grabbed one's collar and saw a tag. I called the number. A few minutes later, the owners called. They were out for a walk in the woods behind my house and had lost sight of their dogs. They were, of course, glad to be reunited with them.
For me, coming home to two dogs excited to see me, playing with them, made me miss my dogs that much more. I think in another month or so I will get another dog.
