Years ago, when I managed a call center for a phone company I made an employee feel uncomfortable and had no idea. While at the main desk each night he would walk by going to lunch. I would say (my intent was to be nice) going to lunch? he would say yes. well, after about two weeks his supervisor told me that the employee felt as though I was treating him differently and checking up on him. I apologized and explained myself. The point of my story is that any of us can have good intentions but come across in ways we never meant or thought of. I learned a valuable lesson from this experience.
