Apple announced the iPhone 5 today, as expected, and it's going to be thinner, lighter and have 4G LTE support and global coverage. The snazzy new phone also has a better camera and a bunch of other internal bells and whistles. iPhone 5 will be taller and lighter than it's predecessors. The news everyone's dying to know: The iPhone 5 will go on sale and start shipping September 21. It can be pre-ordered September 14 (Friday). This comes just two days after the release of iOS 6, which can be downloaded on older versions of the phone and other devices too. The iPhone 5 will have the same retina display as the 4S, but the screen will be bigger, 4 inches instead of 3.7, and that means there can be a fifth row of mobile power app icons on the homes screen. It's also a little taller, but 18% thinner. So, we imagine case sales will be on the rise too. The entire thing is made of aluminum and glass, after all. Battery life is supposed to be up to 8 hours of 3G talk time and the A6 chip means you can use apps, launch photos, and do a whole bunch of other cool things faster too. Pictures can be taken 40% faster and there's a panorama image feature. Of course, the folks at Apple showed mobile power off a stunning picture of the nearby Golden Gate Bridge using this feature today.
