Give Credit

One thing that bugs me is the way some people post poetry or quotes as though it is their own work. They never give credit to the actual author.
I can't say I have seen this on EP, but I have on other sites, and it really annoys me.

I love the angry wet cat! Great call!!

I post quotes sometimes, even if I don't say who said it, I usually at least put quotation marks around it to indicate it is a quote.

Well that's something, at least because it tells people it is not your original work. I often read poetry, and think this person is a great poet, not realizing that they never wrote it. It's called plagiarism, when someone tries to pass of someone else's work as their own. I think with the internet today, it happens a lot, but that does not make it right.
It's also nice for the reader to know who wrote it, so they can go look up the other works of the author, if they happen to like the story or poem.
Thanks Kat for your comment, and for visiting.

When I only use quotes and leave out the original author I usually do that because I just want to see if anyone catches on to who I am quoting without me telling :P
