I live in Zimmerman, which is forty miles north of twin cities. I have been married eleven years to an aspie and have a ten year old son with aspergers. I am about to go out of my mind. Anyone near me that wants to have a group?

I am looking for a support group for my daughter who was just diagnosed with aspergers. She really needs to have friends who she can relate to we live in the twin cities area. She was told she is high fuctioning aspergers. She is 23 yrs old.

There are some great groups in the cities. I would go there but too long of a drive for me. Do a search. Hopefully you have found something by now I guess.

That I can be of service is enough. Life is tough with a partner at times, all the more so with one with a challenging personality.

thank you for the validation of my feelings! having someone do that is so healing. I called myself . . no one that specializes/understands it that I can talk too. It is so frustrating. I did have time to look at the websites. One was helpful as it led to a group 2 hours away. I will contact them to see if they know of anyone closer. thank you so much for the help.

While I'm not in the US, I can't imagine that there aren't lots of people with Asperger's and many of them married, hence why wouldn't there be enough to form a support group? Maybe I've misunderstood what the councilor was saying wasn't possible.

In Australia, there are government funded support groups for children and youth with mental conditions like this - I would hope the US had too. They might have links to adult support groups who have information etc. There are not only spouses of adults with the condition, but also parents and children who surely would be sufficient in number to form an association, and identify specialists who could provide practical advice.

Good luck, and happy to chat if I can be of any help.

It must be very trying at times for you.
