Healing The Ghetto

Sometimes as I drive through the "hood" my heart breaks. It saddens me to see the state of some African american's. There are bars on almost every corner, and drug dealers on the next. Little children walking around aimlessly, junkies everywhere. I wonder how it came to this.

We were a proud people at least that's what the black history books said.  We come from the land of diamonds and gold and still we suffer! I wonder if it is long term effects of slavery or just plain self hate. Some of our diets are horrible and this doesn't help. As I drove down the street today, I saw the yellow crime scene tape circling an entire block, another homicide.

It pains me to see so many strong black men unemployed, uneducated and unaware of the traps that are set for them. Oh it pains me to think of it. I used to mentor at risk children but the funding ran out. The headstart programs are pretty much all closed down.

The police circle around the community like its a circus. I do know that black people are a very loving race in general and we give all we have. I can only pray that one day, we will get back a little of all we gave.

Thank you Father for healing my people
