I Need a Damn Job
I was applying for a job in this retail store when I saw a 'shoplifter'. My first instinct was to find the store manager, but I stopped myself. I thought that perhaps this person was out of work too, and had been for a long time. Perhaps desperation had let her to break the law. I watched as she proceeded to hide away her stuffs. She wasn't stealing clothes or jewlery, just food items. I don't really have to work, my parents left me a Trust fund, but I want to work because it makes me feel worthwhile, and off sets any extras I would like to buy. This person was not well off, I could tell by how she was dressed. I thought and thought and when I finally made a decision, I saw two men grab the woman and start to make her open her coat. I have no idea what made me do what I did next, but I went over to the trio and asked the two men what they were doing. They said 'shoplifter', I replied 'how dare you' call my aunt that. They were shocked. I told them there were no baskets so my aunt was carrying this way. They made us go to the check out line and I paid for the food. I walked out with the woman, who hadn't said a word. I gave her all the cash I had, and my phone number in case she ever needed me. She calls me a couple of times a week and she has gotten a job, so we have become friends. I just wanted to share with you all....on how life has twists and turns.
