Not Exactly Your Dream Job
I work for an Internet gaming cafe. To a lot of people, I have the perfect job: I sit on my butt all day, I spend at least 60% of the time surfing the web or playing games, I get 3 days off a week and a guaranteed 40 hours a week in pay. Downsides? Minimum wage and I deal with all the kids that parents do not know what to do with. I patiently sell computer time to brain-dead druggies, socially inept rejects, paranoid schizophrenics, drunks and angry mothers who rightly don't understand how their son or daughter can spend 14 hours a day glued to a computer screen. To wear my nerves down more, I have two morning shifts and two graveyard shifts within the same week, every week. No sick time, no vacation, no benefits.
I make a very real effort to remain patient and cordial with the people that would just as soon spit in my face. I took this job in order to help out a friend and because it was conveniently within walking distance of my home when I took the job. Also, I'm allowed to pursue other goals in the time I have off. But now, with the steadily rising cost of food and gas, minimum wage is rapidly becoming a wage I can no longer budget on.
I need a new job and just about anything that's higher paying and just as close to home would be ideal.
