A Comment Made By the Pope

I don't know if there are other participants of Yahoo! Answers who visit this site but I am. I decided to ask a question regarding a comment made by the Pope that the only TRUE religion was Catholicism. I find his statement biased, self serving, and wrong. I also find it curious that he would make such a statement when the fact of the matter is the image and name of Jesus Christ has been drastically changed to "accommodate" the masses. Jesus is NOT what His name is. He's Jewish--of Middle Eastern descent--and is described in the Bible as having skin of bronze and hair of wool. HOWEVER, His portrayal is that of a pale skinned, blonde haired, blue eyed, obviously anglo persona and it's wrong. Every single individual who has read the Bible throughout knows that the portrayal of Him is wrong and yet not one person in the religious community has even tried to change it to His true image. Why? Exactly how many people do you think would worship a man with dark skin and kinky hair? But, if you put an acceptable, more believable image of an anglo in that role you're all set. It doesn't matter that it's a lie. And that's the problem that I have. Some groups have Him as dark as dark can be. He's not African either. He's Middle Eastern. I'd say his complexion is like that of an Egyptian with the hair of a Jewish person. Not tight, but as a beard would be on the average man. The Pope knows that His image is what brings people to the church Catholic or otherwise. My question was this: How can the Pope make the comment that his religion is the only true religion when they do not even portray Jesus as He really looked and do not use his proper names spelling and have personified the lie for centuries? They changed his religion from Jewish to Christian, (an obvious play on His name), to also suit thier needs. I got 44 responses to my question in a matter of minutes and about 10 of them reported me for abuse and my question was promptly removed! I could not believe that so I responded to the action and spelled out the facts and noted that I did not insult anyone, or personally attack anyone OR their religion and the truth is that I was stating exactly what was said and expressing my opinion with the FACTS right in the Bible. My question was put back on the sight and I got an additional 55 answers to it. Some people are so wrapped up in being right and so afraid of the truth that they felt threatened and wanted my question and comment removed before too many people read it and started questioning the reality of it. It's one thing to fight a lie but no one can fight or change the truth. How many people will continue to worship Jesus Christ when His true image is finally placed in the public eye? How many hardcore, He's gotta be anglo to be that good, religious people will continue to follow Him based on the exact same things that caused them to believe in Him in the first place and will ignore His darker skin and texture of His hair? I love the Man. Not His image. How many people have that kind of belief to where His heritage and religion just don't matter? He is a teacher, a healer, a prophet, a friend. His true image should be brought forth so that the dishonor done to Him is rectified. Falsely portraying Him just so that He is more readily accepted is an insult to Him and what He was about. Is this about money? The more people who attend church the more money that church makes. How many caucasian people would have gone to church way back when if the image of their savior had dark skin with kinky hair? Think about it.

I'm ex-champ MMA teamster, now into something FAR more exciting !!!!

As are ex-world champs Chuck Norris & Tony Anthony (whose autobio, Taming The Tiger, is a movie too)

I came in just now to post this, that I just emailed a good Christian online friend, who hasn't yet joined EP

I often think @ when Christ returns for Armageddon & thunders, "YOU have divided MY land!" That's Isra-el, the only nation on whom God put His name

He promised Abraham everything from R Nile to R Euphrates in Genesis 12 & 15

I read your email when I was so tired, I nearly dropped off

Having prayed, what came forecefully to mind was Matt 24 birthpains

Birthpains accelerate & intensify till they get way past the point of no return, to bring on The Great Delivery

If I were a gambler, I'd lay odds we'll be Matt 24:30-42 Rapture rescued soon

www.BibleGateway.com - as @ 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11

"NOW is the acceptable time"

"NOW is the day of salvation

"TODAY, if you hear God's voice, don't harden your hearts"

We must complete our Matt 28 Great Commission

All who have not yet made Jesus your Lord & Saviour need to do it NOW

Ask Jesus to forgive all your sin

Invite Him to live in your heart as Saviour & Lord - as @ John 3 & Romans 3

PASS IT ON

It's to do with history largely. The Catholic Church was the one instituted by Christ - Peter was the first Pope, and the apostles were the first bishops.

Part of Catholic belief is of the infallibility (can't be wrong) of this Church. Throughout history, the Catholic Church as said that outside of the Church there is no salvation. Thus the Pope is only repeating the teaching - not making a new one.

It's all to do with history.

How can the Pope make the comment that his religion is the only true religion when they do not even portray Jesus as He really looked and do not use his proper names spelling and have personified the lie for centuries?: Because he has been given a lot of respect to say and believe whatever he feels will sell his way of thinking and draw new followers.
Contradictions are inevitable in a system where you need to either change yourself, or the belief at hand, to come to terms with what it is you're trying to convince yourself of/have faith in.
As Ellegarto lizardly said, 'if there was a Jesus’
The first reference of Jesus in the bible came from a man born one hundred years after. By that point who knows what stories had been twisted into a Jesus character. You’re probably right about what he might have looked like, but who wants to claim a savoir from another race when you can make one that looks familiarly vague and comfortable? Personally, I would have made my Jesus invisible and dinosaurian; thank god I’m not religious.

That is CRAZY you got reported for "abuse"...since when is asking a question abuse?
Jesus....someone needs to spay or nueter those 10 idiots.

Excellent point. Assuming there actually was a historical Jesus, which is a ludicrous assumption, he would probably have looked like the love child of James Brown and Eartha Kitt.

You make an excellent point, and I think it's very true that people bl<x>inkers on when it comes to some of the obvious contradictions between much of organised religion, and the underlying belief system. Furthermore, it's very disappointing that your question was removed initially by the moderators of that site, when it is valid and respectful.
