I Need Emotional Intimacy
She stands in the bathroom getting ready to get into the shower. He walks over to her and gets as close as possible. His hand pats her on the behind complimenting her in appealing shape in her running tights.
She grimaces and just stands there, unsure of what to do next. She used to reach for him. She used to care. She used to love without second thought. She used to almost beg for his attention. Now...she would rather just close her eyes and disappear. He takes her into his arms. She half-heartedly hugs him back. She pulls away slightly. He gives her a quick peck on the lips, but she moves her head away so it won't continue. He tells her that he has been trying. She comments that she has noticed, but it didn't stop him from talking mean to her again yesterday. Reminders of his emotional neglect scream in her mind. She pulls completely away and he finally steps back out of her space and into the hallway. She asks him where has he been all these years? He pushed her out of his heart and life. She tells him that she has been here over and over before and can no longer allow herself to get her hopes up. She has been crushed. Her spirit is barely hanging on. The thread is thinner and thinner. His anger and selfishness destroyed their love. It used to be strong. He used to reach for her. She used to keep offering her all to him. No more.
She is moving out of the bedroom. She still longs to be touched, but she would rather be touched by a man that fully appreciates her and unconditionally shows her the love that she so much deserves. His conditions are too much for her now. She simply can't keep giving in. It hurts too ******* much. She looks at him and is so numb. She doesn't want to treat him the way he has treated her, but she no longer has the fight in her. She is worn down. She is done.
Later on, a text comes across telling her the opposite of what he has been saying for so long. He has over and over told her they can't be fixed. His refusal to work with her. He has turned his back to her tears so many times. He has caused physical and emotional pain. Now he says he hopes it isn't too late? Her pain screams louder than his hollow apology. Her heart has endured so much of his harm. She held on so tight to him. She fought so long and hard.
She is now done fighting. She is now done crying for her dream of them.
She's moving on for her life, her heart, her soul. The long battle is over. She is finally ready to let go of him.
