Well I have a suggestion. The next time you get a lump sum of money, pay one month ahead on everything. Then when and if you get a weekly check, you divide your monthly bills by 4 and set that much of your weekly check aside and you have the money to pay bills when they come due. And it seems like you have more free money that way instead of taking a whole car payment or rent payment out of 1 check. And the months that have five weeks in them you can use that money to make your quarterly car insurance payment.

Single parenting is tough, emeth, I know. I've been a single Dad for nearly ten years now, and I'm afraid there are no secret magical solutions. I think I have survived mostly because I have used the love I have for my son as the foundation for my determination to get through whatever obstacles life puts in my way. I always think: What is best for James? -and act on that.<br />

I don't know how or why you have become a single Mum, but wish you the best of luck. I do understand that it's a tough gig.
