It Worked , Only Once !

Well ... i did have a speech therapy , so many times , that i can't count .

i need it because i stutter , it's not too bad though , but i hate it .

The only time , speech therapy , did really work , was my first time ..

it lasted about 6 months , but then i get right back on .

Since then , i've been going everywhere there is for speech therapy , but always dropped it , in the 4th or 5th session .

I don't know , if would've complete the whole course , i would get better , or it would work ... but from what i see and hear ... , it doesn't work that often , esp , when the reason your having a speech disorder is pychological .

@MizShagtastic well, ya, and I see the people who overcome it , like everyday .. and I wonder if I can ever be like them one day .. I'm 19yrs old now, and I think I've been stuttering since I was like 8 or 9 yrs old ..
I still am just glad that there's people like you , who know what it's like to be in my shoes .. that comforts me a lot .. as I wish it comforts you other stutterers too =) ..
so thank you so much .. ^_^ ..

I'm studying to be a speech therapist. Most of the causes for stuttering are psychological and anxiety related, and it is one of those fluency disorders that generally requires continued therapy. It's also one of those disorders where therapy can be very frustrating, but you have to stick with it. Stuttering is not something that will be resolved after 4 or 5 sessions. There is a great institute, Hollins Institute, that has had many successful. I'm not sure where you live, but I thought I'd provide the site for you anyway. Take a look at some of the patient before and after videos. They're pretty remarkable (no I don't work for the institute...no affiliation at all).
