Especially During The Depressing Winter SeasonThe moments I spend with the people I love are way more significant to me than the amount of money they spend buying me gifts. My father sometimes comments on how my boyfriend rarely gets me presents on random occasions, and it always bothers me how he insinuates that that means he loves me any less. We have a great relationship in which we both give and receive certain things that are more important than gifts. Such as time, love, conversation and support. Sure, I'd probably be hurt if he forgot to buy me a birthday gift, but when you think about it, that wouldn't really be about the gift, would it?
With Christmas approaching and all the shop owners earing tons of money, I often find myself wondering if people still take the time to actually be together. Everyone is always so busy. And of course, that's the way the world works these days. But that's exactly why spending time with people is a better gift than material things. Because making time is harder than buying gifts.
