Giving up anything requires more than one thing. Will power is a must.(or should it be WON'T POWER?). LOL. More importantly you must convince yourself that you WANT to give up. Sounds silly but this is really important. You REALLY MUST CONVINCE YOURSELF, THAT YOU WANT TO GIVE UP. Once this hurdle in overcome you will be on your way to a NICOTENE free Life.
I gave up this way after 40 years of smoking, firstly cigarettes and then a pipe.
I also make sure that every person I knew, friends, workmates, family etc, knew that I had ended my habit. Now being a person who couldn't face losing face, I had to get on with it. And I did. The day I made this decision was 25 years ago (1988) on 18th of this month. I'm still free of the habit.
However, Sod's Law took a hand and the year after giving up I was diagnosed with Emphysema. I am convinced that had I not taken the decision when I did, I would not be here today. I now survive curtesy of a clutch of inhalers. Don't end up like me mate.

I sure wish you good luck on the quitting smoking thing. It's a b.i.t.c.h. But tomorrow is always a possibility. (Of course, as they say, "We are not promised tomorrow." But IF tomorrow comes for you, it's a posssibility for not smoking that day.
My Dad gave up smoking (Lucky Strikes), but he said, "I ate a lot of lemon drops for a while !"
    Good Luck (again)
