Program That Helped Me Was Thin Within

You just journal what you eat everyday.  Our stomachs have a fuel gauge in them just like the dashboard on a car.  If you become body aware, you can feel this gauge click when you've had enough to eat.  Our stomachs are about the size of our fist, so eating more of anything than that size is putting too much in there.  I like pretending I'm on what I call "The bariatric surgery diet" - I have 3 spoons full of whatever and that's it until I feel a bit hungry again.  I have lost 40 pounds in this manner and do not feel deprived.  I find I'm a carbohydrate addict so try to limit the carbs.  Also another thing - the more color in the food you eat - the better it is for you so that leaves out most carbs.  Another thing - we are composed of mostly water - I forget the exact percentage - like 75%.  So to keep our bodies thin we need to eat things that have a lot of water content.

How long did it take u to lose the 40 lbs?

Way to go on being so disciplined about how much you eat! 40 pounds is a lot, and that's awesome that you stuck with it. So many times we want to indulge or overeat simply because the food is there; sounds like you have overcome that temptation!



And yes, color is a great thing! So long as it's not artificial, LOL! My passion is health & nutrition, and I love to hear of people realizing the value of fruits & veggies as well as drinking a lot of water.

I think your motivated enough to get back on track. I had let myself slip also. I started working out and being more active, but it wasn't getting me quite there. Well, progress is progressing but way too slow. I need to get hold of myself and go back on cheese omelets for breakfast with salsa and cottage cheese and a slice of bacon or two thrown in. That's how I did it before. I've been eating carbs again and you can tell. I certainly can tell. A breakfast such as this gets me going for a whole day. If I need a snack it will be cheese, piece of jerky, piece of bacon or something protein. There were days I ate bacon as much as I wanted and lost weight. Gotta get back on that regime again. Been walking 3 or 4 laps in the parking lot of the school near my house - it comes to about 1/2 mile and my goal is to get to a mile and keep adding miles. I think I need to walk to GA from CA for some good reason like health, old age, or just to be an "x" in the middle of the world for awhile. Would love to hike the Appalaitian trail and the Rocky Mtn Trail clear to Canada. If I did this, I wouldnn't have to have a diet. And I wouldn't have to have a thrashed body that nobody wants. If they could get past that, they'd have the best time! I've been so bad I'm good. But, I look so bad I'm past having fun I guess. Time's a wastin. Oh well.

I did the vinegar thing yesterday but forgot today - gotta create a habit! Used to use vinegar a long time ago - thanks for the reminder! Love Dr. Mercola! He is so together.

I'm proud of you Moxie for taking control of your weight issue. I still think you are gorgeous no matter your weight. Did you read the article on Cider Vinegar by Dr. Mercola yet? Drinking a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a glass of water before a meal helps slow down the absorption of sugars/carbs in your system. He says research shows that it is great for diabetics and for those overweight as well. Doesn't taste bad to me.

It's a difficult time for me too - I'm still a baby and love to sleep on a full tummy. So, I have compromised, I allow myself a half slice of bread and butter or some popcorn - a carb type of food makes you sleep better. Just don't get carried away. I now can eat only half as much as I ate a year ago. It has been slow going and it is gratifying to know that eating half a helping can become enough! Forgive yourself if you "fall off the wagon". Know there is tomorrow to becoming your thin self again.

I will try the water. For me the hardest time is right before bedtime.

Now you made me thirsty! LOL A lot of people (including me) think they are hungry when they are really thirsty. I remember my Mom saying - go drink a glass of water when I was a hungry kid - but I was a rebellious hungry kid - so my hunger and thirst mechanisms got mixed up! I now appreciate a glass of water. I never drink soda - gave that up to the diet or thin god.

The comment about water is dead on! Drinking more helps maintain weight too, filling the stomach, and also keeping you from drinking soda! I read a stat once that over 50% of the American population was chronically dehydrated. Now I feel like I should go get some water, lol.

Wow, I rate you as a guru! Anybody who has maintained a 50 pound weight loss for 5 years knows what they are doing! You deserve an award!
