'm 25 years old with a college degree and a lot going for me. I've never had a boyfriend. I've been on dates and even at one time had a friends with limited benefits relationship (if you could call it that). Some of you are not even 18 and complaining about not having one. If you are under the age of 16, just wait, you have time. I'm 25 and have never had a boyfriend. Apparently, I'm more friend material than girlfriend material. I did have one boy in the past ask if I wanted to be his girlfriend but I could not tell if he was joking or not as we were having a comedic conversation. I'm glad in the long run that I did not say yes or else I would have been a relationship going nowhere. The boy in question asked me during our sophomore year in college in 2004. It is the year 2009 and he has yet to graduate after 7 plus years there.
It's lonely but I'd rather be with someone who actually wants to leave school and do something with their life versus a slacker who has had one class to finish for the past three years. I graduated in 5 years because that is how my program was structured. His program is scheduled for 4 years and he even went to summer school and has that one class to finish. So all in all I'm glad that I did not say yes to him because although I've never had a boyfriend, I would not want one with loser-ish tendencies.

For some reason it's comforting to hear similar situations of others, perhapps it's to gain a feeling that were not alone or it could be that human beings are comeforted by the suffering of others in similar situations as their own. for whatever reason I chose to read your story, it may be nice to think that you are better than allot of people and deserve more, it sounds true reading what you had to say. be kind to yourself.   |

 | Posted Sep 26th, 2009 at 3:59PM Thank you for posting this, it makes me feel better knowing at 24, I'm not the only who's in there 20's, and still have never had a boyfriend. There are many reasons, shyness, haven't found the right one, not very social..pick your choice, but I think it just comes down to not being around people enough to meet anyone new. I sometimes wonder if I really am not relationship material and I have trust issues which I'm sure doesn't help. I'm tired of people saying to me, oh it will happen someday, someone will come along. At this point I don't think I care, if it happens, it happens, if not, well then its just not in my cards to have a life with someone. So your not along and don't feel like it, there are a lot of us out there who are your age and still haven't found anyone. |
