My Battle With HpvUntil a few years ago hpv ( human pathaloma virus ) was hardly heard of. When I was a kid there was no vaccination for it. My battle began about 5 years ago when I was having a pap test done. It was the first time I ever had an abnormal result and was sent to a specialist. After further testing and biopsy it was determined to be pre cervix cancer caused from hpv. How I got it was not determined either hereditary or from a partner that carried it. All I know is that my life was going good I found the man who later became my husband and this just threw a big fork in the road.
I went back in 3 months for another biopsy which was very painful. They took a set of tong like things put then in my private area in order to reach the cervix. When they got there they would clamp it down and remove pieces. I could hardly walk after those. Anyways it was decided that I need to have surgery done because I had cancerous cells. I had surgery and they removed what the could and cauterized the rest. I had to go back every 3 months for a year and be checked to make sure it was not returning.
Finally after 2 years of fighting it I got good news that everything was good and only needed to be checked once a year. That news came 3 months before my wedding day. I was so happy I cried.
To this day it still has not returned but I get checked every 2 years just to be sure. What I went through was hard physically and emotionally. .I have 2 daughters and when they get old enough they will be vaccinated. I don't want them going through what I did. Although it has made me an even stronger person. But one shouldn't half to go through that in order to find there strengths. I am happy I made it through for my husband and family which I love so very much.
