These Days I Only Make New Resolutions On My Birthday
When I was a kid, I was told to make a list of new year's resolutions. Something like a new start to a new book. All kinds of resolutions those days; will finish my homework before 6pm, will not watch cartoon hour unless I have showered and changed into my pyjamas, must leave the bed after the second alarm buzz etc etc. It worked. I learned to discipline myself that way, but as I grew up, life got busy and busier. Each year end, I became a bit more disorganised with the amount of things I had to do and accomplished. I cannot remember the last time I had the chance to sit down, and reflect what I did and did not prior to the midnight bells.
These days, I only make new resolutions on my birthday. Its the time of year when things are less hectic and I've had enough time to sit back and reflect on my life and decide in which direction I would like to spread my wings. I usually resolve to make only one change at a time and not more, but there are times when domino effect came in, creating a wave of pleasant small minor changes following the one and only resolution. It all started with one, and the rest will follow, and that is my own birthday present for myself.
