The Mystery GodfairyWhen I was about done with high school everyone started getting ready for graduation and my classmates were very excited about it. I was fairly new to the country, I transferred from 10th grade on but managed to escalate to the honors program fast. I had no plans to go to the prom because I didn't know what the big to do was about and because I was not expecting my parents to offer to pay anything. I was a pretty isolated kid at home. But one day my friend came back with a toga and told me that my name was on the list. I thought for sure it was a mistake. So I was dragged to the toga table to find out....
I found out that someone had paid for my toga and for the entire trip to Orlando to spend the prom at Disney and dance to KC and The Sunshine Band. I was so surprised! I asked everyone in the school. I asked my teachers, my friends, no one knew. I told the school to double check and they said yes, for sure it is paid. I finally asked my parents and they said no way.
I never knew who paid it and I never went, I gave the ticket and the toga to my twin sister and she went. and had a lot of fun - she gave e a polka dot dress that I really liked in exchange. I wish I knew who paid for it though. The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe some parents donated and the school distributed them among the kids who are in the top 5% and have not purchased the prom package - I don't know, I hate unsolved mysteries.
