Chess Competion First and Last

Back in primary school i joined the chess club (only a few people went) and the teacher who was in charge of it invited us to a chess competition. So i went along.

We played 7 games over 2 days and there was free food. I won 5 games and tied another.

That was my first and last chess comp.

well done!
my first was in 7th grade. the following year i played in the city championship but didn't do all that well (3-2). the next year i joined uscf and played in that tournament again as my first.

Like you, *****, I'm awful at chess as well. However, I've found that when I feel lonesome all I need to do is set up the board in a public place and SOMEBODY will play a game with me. Doesn't matter if I lose. A greater game is afoot!
By the way, on the Windows Vista chess game I have to set it at level two to win half of the time. Level one is for the extra dense.

It took me a long time to find out how bad I was at chess. For some reason I used to enjoy moving the pieces around the board, but I'd be lying if I said I ever understood the game.
