Trichotillomania

It all started when I was about 12 years old. I was secluded to my room. The anxiety made me go crazy. I did not know what to do with myself but read and listen to the radio. The two things that I wouldnt have taken away from me by my parents. It then formed into trichotillomania which is when one pulls their hair because of high anxiety, it occurs when one is more sedentary and it is a major stress reliever. It actually feels good to people with this problem. It is a rare disease that is not very explainable, but is a form of OCD-obsessive compulsive disorder.

I suffer from Tric... I have since I was a young teen. I am able to stop for a while but catch myself doing it a lot. I usually do it while watching movies or relaxing. I also pluck hair from other body parts, but I won't go into details. If you want more information on this disorder, check out this:
Been having this ******* thing ever since I was 15. I used to hide it (and very well indeed) with clever applications of hair extensions, wigs, hats, scarves and what not. Now, I'm 21 and I'm still pulling. I managed to get some help but with no avail. Being a college student with this kind of torture is just too much.
I don't know how to tell people why I do it. It's like asking an alcoholic why he/she likes drinking. But I think after a while, you'll tell yourself to stop and it listens...for a short period of time before you start pulling again.
Still looking a 'cure'.

i just started doing this for the first time about a year ago and its just got progressively worse. im getting worried about it (go figure, right?) and i'm at the stage where i'm thinking about that day when i wake up bald. :( i'm going to have to stop, there's no way i can keep going on like this. im only 17 and its ruining my life! i'll have to start wearing cardboard boxes or something on my hands so i cant pull my hair.. so no high five to trichotillimania from me. i want rid of this.

Hi-Five to trichotillimania. We must be anxious people. I too started when I was young and pulled out enough hair for me to form a bald spot on the crown of my head. I stopped for many many years and have just now picked it up again. I don't know what triggers it.
