I Quit Cold Turkey

Of course it wasnt the easiest thing, it still isnt, but its been over 4 years now!

I remember the moment I quit, I was sitting on the living room floor, almost time to go to work, having a smoke with my hubby before we left.  Suddenly I felt the most horrible feeling in my chest and back.  I thought I was going to die.  I couldnt breathe and it hurt sooo bad.  My hubby rushed me to the emergency where I was put on an EKG machine and checked over.  I was so scared, my daughter was staying at my parents house overnight that day, and I was worried that I would never see her again.

The pain went away, eventually, and they told me I had a panic attack. (I was under a lot of stress, and that is what brought it on)  I was so relieved, I mean a panic attack is so much better than a heart attack, which was what I thought it was.

I never smoked again after that, even though my husband still does.  I am still tempted, although its not a hard thing to refuse, all I need to think about is that feeling again.

lol i can't imagine how hard it is b/c your hubby still smokes. I was a smoker... somehow I miraculously quit before I got pregnant... I had the kid and was smoke free for a year or two. Now I blame the traffic of California! =P in all honesty it's not too horrible... i went from a pack a day to now 1/2... sometimes even only every other day. Lol idk if it's fortunate or unfortunate that I don't have any life changing events that make me wanna never see a cigarette again. Lol... all I can say is "one of these days..." Lol anyways back to you! gratz on the quitting and staying that way =) and cheers to it lasting forever.
