For a time I also worked in a nursing home, then worked hospice. It is impossible to do your job and not become emotionally attached to those you serve. They become family. I fell in love with each patient. Often when I went on to hospice I fell in love with the families as well.
While your heart is broken it speaks well of you that you grieve for the loss of your patient. Clearly she was well cared for by you, and her family as well. I thank you for that.

Thank you for your response! You are absolutely right....patients and their families do become part of your own. It is impossible not to feel something for these folks.
