I Read a Book That Made Me Cry
Probably the first book to keep me up till like three A.M and defiantly the first to make me actually cry. The book is about Miles Halters who goes to a boarding school in Alabama called Culver Creek. He goes to seek "a great perhaps" hoping that this will be where his real life will begin. He meets Chip "The Colonel" Martin, who nicknames him Pudge. Eventually he meets Alaska Young. Pudge slowly forms a crush on Alaska, hanging out with her, pulling pranks. Eventually he gets close to Alaska and they share a kiss and he falls asleep with her in her room after a huge prank. She wakes up screaming and crying the next day and The Colonel and Pudge help her leave the school and they go back to bed *SPOLIERS!!!!!*
The next day a school meeting is called. Alaska had gotten into a car accident and died. Pudge is destroyed, refusing to believe it even, the rest of the books tells about how he and The Colonel slowly deal with her death and figure out why she left in the first place. It’s an amazing book, seeing how Alaska changes Miles life in almost every way and then just totally leaves it, how he has to overcome his guilt. The author John Green is my favorite and his books always force me to stay up late. Looking for Alaska changed me in a way, allowed me to see how a death that powerful could affect you, and how you can live on from it. And Alaska is probably one of the greatest characters ever, forcing me to start looking for a girl like that myself, maybe I might have found one even :) Anyways, This was a great book and I LOVED it!
