I finished it -- absolutely amazing. Been reverberating through my mind for days. You'll love it, especially if it's the first Wharton you try. I strongly recommend it! I remember you finding Jane Eyre slow in places. The Age of Innocence is a far shorter novel and fairly fast-moving. A lot of people get frustrated by the central character Newland Archer. Personally I found the novel highly insightful and engaging. I am incredibly with impressed with Wharton's acuity. The sharpness of her observation of her society seems fairly incomparable, Pride and Prejudice aside.

How is the Age of Innocence going? I'm planning to read some Edith Wharton eventually (she IS the author... right? Lol, I'm not entirely sure) but haven't picked up anything yet.

I've seen a film adaptation of "A Streetcar Named Desire" (wonderful name, that!) but that was many, many years ago. Both by Tennesee Williams I think, will have a read, RazzSeven!

Anna Karenina -- I think it pretty much has everything you could ever think of in life in that novel. Amazing!

I don't normally read more than one fiction at a time unless they're very different from each other. The Shadow of the Wind is pretty-much on hold at the moment, but I am half-way through it. The Age of Innocence has its moments as I mentioned above, and is pretty stirring. Anna Karenina is my favourite novel so far from all of those I've read. I think the film version of the play "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" is pretty moving, but I've not read the play yet. Then again I'm quite an emotional person and might get moved even by popular fiction.
