Secrets Unposted

I've sent in several secrets to Postsecret, but none of them were ever posted. For a while, I felt like maybe my secrets weren't important enough, intelligent enough, or creative enough to be posted. I felt like I was mediocre in everything I did; even my secrets were mediocre.

But after a while, I started to realize that other secrets that WERE being posted were similar to mine, or even exactly like mine! I always thought that the only way to feel better about myself and my secrets was to get my exact secret posted on the website, but I realized that just knowing someone else was feeling the same way I was made me feel a lot better about myself.

I have never sent in any secrets myself, but every now and then when I check out the sunday secrets or when I was barnes and noble flipping through one of the books I would find one that really reflected a secret of my own. Today I read one from this past sunday and I teared up at work..
Our family dog passed away while I was at college (he was 15) and my own cat that was given to me for my third birthday was put down on the same day, at age 16. I didn't even know she was sick. My parents called me up to confirm they put our dog down, and then mentioned Jingles -my cat- was put down too. I was shocked and hurt.. it wasn't necessary. they brought her in because she hit her head, and my dad told the vet to put her down too (he hated her, and all cats.. my mom was too upset to argue :( )
My dog is now 8 years old and I'm so busy with my internship and other things I'm upset I don't spend enough time with him (I've been gone at college the last 8 fall/spring semesters too) and I'm afraid something will happen and I'll regret being too busy.
I am making time tonight to take him for a long walk.
