I'm Officially Old Now As If I Needed To Be Reminded.

When I checked the mail today there was a letter with the bold letters AARP (AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons) on the return address portion of the envelope. At first I assumed it must be for my elderly neighbor and had been put in my mailbox by mistake, then my eyes went to the addressee and I was shocked to see that it was actually addressed to me!!  Oh the horror!! I opened the envelope and there was a shiny new AARP membership card enclosed with my name printed upon it. What an epiphany, to realize that you're now officially old.  I'm afraid to find what's next to come when I open my mailbox? Free Geritol, Depends, and Viagra samples? I've been graying for years and have foreseen becoming "old" but now it's become official and so far on day one of old geezerhood I'm not much pleased. (For those of you much older than I please don't take this as a put-down, I hear people all of the time saying "Geez I've turned 30 and now my life is over". Some simply accept aging more gracefully than others.)

Lol! I'm into new music myself, Saliva, Puddle of Mudd, 3 Days Grace etc. <br />
Attitude is more important than age. If I'd gotten a depends coupon I'd really be freaked! I've recieved viagra coupons but they say the 4 hour erection is a rare side effect, not the desired or expected result, why bother?

But I'm not even 50 yet! That's why it freaked me out.

Thanks BF, I suppose that acknowledgement for surviving to become an antique is better than no acknowledgement for anything at all.

Lol this is funny. I am not familiar with AARP as i am from south africa..not even sure if we have something like that here (guess i'll find out when i'm as old as you - hahaha. just teasing). but i wanted to say...in an effort to cheer you up...doesnt it mean you get nice societal benefits like... cheaper bus rides...and other things (those viagra samples sound nice) lol. but it is a great accomplishment...and you're being acknowledged for it......bf.
