Four Years Down...It's been around four years now, and I've done really well.
In middle and high school I struggled with anorexia nervosa, which went undiagnosed and essentially untreated because of my parents' aversion to psychological treatments/counseling.
With the help of my best friend (who seems sometimes to be more of a sister to me than my real sister, and who I've known since the late 1990s) and a very wonderful counselor at my school, I was able to overcome my insecurities and find that little smidgen of self-respect that I'd buried away deep inside.
Now my appetite is healthy, and I'm pretty healthy overall. I haven't tried to regress since I moved out of my parents' house, and I've got a whole "team" of support all around me -- wonderful friends, including my same best friend, professors who care about me, on-campus counselors...
I'm still not 100% as strong and self-confident as I was before it all happened, but I'm feeling better. :)
