Pine Trees

I remember when I was 5 years old and living in Newark, California. At that time in the late 70's we had a horse ranch there. I think it's gone now because a new community was built over it. Anyways on our property we had lots of Pine Trees and I remember looking up the trees with a pine cone in my hand thinking how tall the trees were. Of course being grown up now standing next to one I would probably laugh but back then I wanted to climb one so bad because there were so many branches. The only problem was that the lowest branch on every tree was still too high for me even if I had a ladder. It's amazing how different the world is to a child. I read a book recently and it describes this perfectly. It read something like this: "Children live in a world of big legs" everything around them is so BIG. This of course describes children around people but in a way it can also apply to object as well because stimulus is still applied the same way. Children feel a sense of inferiority and intimidation when everything is BIGGER. I felt that way as a child. I felt intimidated and challenged but those Pine Trees because they were so big when I looked up at them.
