He was one of a kind,the voice of authority for several generations-a newscaster not afraid to buck prevailing trends or get in depth in his coverage.I can think of very very few contemporary commentators who can even come close to Mr. Cronkite.

I did meet him personally a few times,but those stories are not for here,not now. I'll not name my sources here. Plus I was badly hungover,feh.

My favorite picture of him was playing a big Brazillian surdo drum after Mickey Hart got him going on rythm a few years before his death-he definitely aged gracefully.

and he was a journalist with principles,a quality which I see lacking in many of todays media figures.
