I was in eighth grade at the time. I was in my social studies class when our principal came in and told us that plane had hit the WTC.

I didn't realize how bad it was at first, I thought it had been like a small personal plane, not a commercial airliners. I thought it was just some wacky news story, never did I think it would kill thousands of people.

I remember watching TV all that afternoon when I got home from school. I watched them play the clips over and over and over and over. It made me so sad and mad and disgusted and confused.

I eventually wanted to stop watching it and take my mind off of it, but it was on every channel that we got at my house.

I didn't know anyone who died, but it was so close to me (I live on Long Island) and it was so scary. I'm pretty sure I cried myself to sleep that night.

I was in my neighbors apartment just outside Fort Campbell. Being Military wives, we started panicking because we knew our husbands would be sent to war. I was a few weeks pregnant at the time. What a terrible thing to happen. I will never forget that day.
