Remember the Soviet Union? The Soviet Socialist Republics? How did socialism and reditributing wealth work out there? The problem is the government owning everything, and having all the power. And power corrupts and creates greed.

Funny, we lost so many of our "freedoms" under the guise of capitalism these last 8 years! Steady erosion and most people seem to think it's alright because the big bad Boogey man is coming to get us!
I people knew the real definition of socialism, they'd change their tune.

i think the usa doesnt have to many more years of freedom anyway!

The experience of opinion is what keeps the topic diversified.

Socialism, communism, they have all been tried and found wanting. Just as in evrything else, the truth can be found somewhere in the middle. Yes, we need programs to care for those who can't care for themselvs, but when the government (socialism) tells me that I "OWE" someone part of what I have prdused, that is going over the line. Capitalism, tempered with a little common sense has been proved the best way.
By the way, all those ******* CEOs who let their companies fail are not true capitalists. The are just greedy bastards. Cheers

Isn't it based on egalitarianism?

I was told what to do in the military and I had lots of self respect.

not if you like to be told what to do and have no self respect.
