Yeah, mom already wasn't very happy with me that night...she grounded me earlier in the evening...so when i got home from taking my grandma home and heard the spanking going on i made sure her eyes didn't see my butt!

Well, I suspect that sort of reaction is probably somewhat universal. :-)

It's funny how often one spanking can result in everyone being good for awhile. I guess you could call it taking one for the team or getting 2+ for 1 deal. lol

Our one aunt and uncle had a very large family and since you mention it, I do recall that if one of them got a spanking, the rest of our cousins seemed to quickly find something to do outside of the house and/or be on their best behavior for the rest of the day. :)

It sure was on my block. Whenever anyone got it, we all improved! Did your sis benefit from hearing your bottom being warmed?

Not sure how much of a benefit it was for her. She was a pretty rebellious kid (who eventually turned into a wonderful adult and a great Mom herself), we didn't really get along that great and she used any excuse to try and (privately) tease me or whatever. I was basically your average good girl, who always tried to overachieve. She hated any comparisons, like "why can't you be more like you sister" and seemed to be a bit pleased any time I did manage to get into trouble.

We only started to get along better on a couple of summers when I was home from college and then in later years we went through the challenges of losing loved ones together and now we could not be closer and more supportive of each other. She's basically my best friend, as well as my little sister.

There would have been very long odds against that, when we were young. :) She really "tested the fences" (as they would say where we come from) a LOT and paid the price for it.

Having "tested the fences" herself, did Little Sis end up having children who did the same? I think that often rebelliousness is heritable! If her own did push the limits, how did she punish them? If she spanked, did she alter the ritual or switch to a different implement? My mother, having felt the belt, decided to spare me the belt -- quite considerate she claimed. So, she switched to a switch and to the 36 inch ruler or as we called it, The Yardstick. It was not a stick though. It was a yard long narrow paddle, in truth. We thought it stung like the Dickens.

No, her two daughters a somewhat different personalities from each other and neither one is anything like as rebellious as their mother was. Although, they do love to hear stories about their mothers adventures. :) She pretty much used her hand and on occasion a hairbrush when she has spanked them in the past.

Well, I bet Little Sis' daughters are fascinated by the adventures of mom and even those of Aunt V., few though they be. There is nothing like hearing that mom and her sister felt the hairbrush just as you just have to build solidarity across generations. Several moms here even use the very hairbrush that they themselves were spanked with.

My dad never shared spanking stories but I know from his brother that all four boys felt the "flat side of the hairbrush on their bottoms" when they were naughty. My mom shared a wrapped (as opposed to folded) belt spanking story. She did something forbidden and her mom spanked her from the back. The belt landed with the holes end on her bare leg. It left a nice pink imprint and according to her there were white circles where the buckle holes were placed. Mind you, it was not the buckle end but she never forgot it and always assured me that she would not use a belt on my bottom. So, her yardstick and I became well-acquainted or as Michelle Waters might say, we got to know each other up close and personally! I did my best to break up the relationship, even once sending Mr. Yardstick missing. An accidental search and rescue mission retrieved him, unfortunately for my bottom though!

You say she "spared" you the belt? I remember sometimes my dad used the yard stick to spank and sometimes he used the belt. I never noticed that the yard stick was any less dreadful than the belt.

I would agree but in terms of neighborhood status, the yardstick was considered very wimpy. What prompted Dad to choose his yardstick? Did he fold or wrap his belt, by the way?

Lying about homework

lying about homework is never a good thing, I know I was spanked as a kid for lying about home too.
My 16 yr old son was spanked Mon for being mouthy and not wanting to go to bed. Not only did he get spanked but then last night had to go to bed at 7 pm.
