The BeachThe Beach (2000) directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) has Leonardo DiCaprio starring as a student in Thailand who gets a map from a friend to a paradise island where a secret community lives. DiCaprio arrives there with two others. The scenic island lives up to the promise of being a paradise, where people eat, sleep, smoke marijuana and have free sex.
Life goes on with incidents of a shark attack and a man falling sick etc.
The marijuana farmer warns the community members not to bring more people on to the island. But the map is copied and the population increases and this irritates the farmer. Finally the people leave the island and return to their normal lives after having lost their paradise. The film was shot on the idyllic Thai island of Koh Phi Phi. A film you can watch to pass time and if you like DiCaprio.
