storm clouds envelop my sky
mustered in dark
eternal damnation holds me in an unyielding embrace
like smothering lovers in disgrace

suddenly, abruptly
a beam of light emerges
the slumbering sun returns from its quietus

others would kill for a chance like this

i curse the light
and everything in its wake
flickers of white-hot fire
dissolve those beloved clouds
selfishly tearing the carefully constructed seams of my world

i shy away from its accursed blight
retreating back into my cold sorrow
my dark haven

inevitably, inescapably
the dire sun rises
consuming me
arresting me
holding me

for now...
