I'm An Old Soul.....

I just love the 30's and 40's era! The way the women dressed and conducted themselves. The way they talked and were graceful and elegant! The epitome of femininity!!!

Like---Bette Davis, Lana Turner, Betty Grable, Katherine Hepburn, Lauren Becall, Jean Harlow,Carole Lombard, Marlene Deitrich,Greta Garbo,Loretta Young,Norma Shearer,Claudette Colbert,Ava Gardner,Rita Hayworth,Ginger Rodgers,Olivia de Havilland, and of course the ever beautiful Viviene Leigh!!! I know I still left out so many others!

These women are true cinematic legends and to watch them on film is witnessing history!

I'm whimsical and nostalic, and watching great old black and white movies takes me back in time when women were ladies and men were gentlemen......chivalry was still alive and manners were upheld!

Ladies with their drawn on eyebrows and gentlemen with clipped mustaches.......

Ladies with their stylish hats and gentlemen with their pocketwatches.......

Ladies with their skirts and dresses two inches below the knee and gentlemen with top hats and canes......

When children said "yes ma'am" and "thank you".........

Ohhh to have lived back then!

I know I'm romantisizing the whole thing.....but that's what makes that whole era so Magical!!

Oh my Owlie, yes! That would indeed be quite a shock! LOL
Aww PeeDee, how interesting to see those pictures of your mother back then! What history........:)

My Mother was a teen and young adult in the late 30's and 40's. I loved her stories and looking at her pictures of an era, now gone, but not forgotten!!

Winter my Dear, I'm thinking of you. I read this and my gosh, we are the same in thinking! I agree, the ways of citizens presenting their self, family and modesty. My Gran use to talk about the 1920's and my mom talked about the 30's a lot. I ask a bunch of questions and happily, I heard interesting details. If we visited that era I 'm certain we'd be shocked . Visa versa..Imagine coming to 2009 if one died in 1930?

Aww thanks Greg. You're a true romantic at heart, aren't you? LOL

Very cool story :)
Thanks Josie!
Yes, between the 20's and 60's is Awesome!
I wish I could afford custom made clothing and accessories in the style of this time period! I swear I would dress that way, even if these "modern" times would think I had lost my mind!! Ha ha

i love the styles of the 20s through the 60s. They all have some very unique, beautiful, classy and sexy things for women ... clothes, hairstyles, nylons, heels, handbags.

i absolutely love them all ... and would wear them today. If i only could and be so happy.

It would be wonderful to time travel and experience it all ... first hand.
