Too Many Times!

With me, it takes a lot of hurts for me to get to this point. I am fair, in pointing out what hurts me, when they occur at that moment. I will tell the person, "Hey. That hurts my feelings. Please, don't do that." But my "friends" of the past would just laugh and shrug it off... then later, do the same thing again! And again, I would say, "Please stop!"... and by the third or fifth time, that's when the door would close on them! :-o

I call this "damage control", stopping a person from hurting me anymore than they have! Of course, these "friends", are always shocked when they find themselves on the other side of the door, standing outside of my life circle. I don't know whether to pity them or laugh at them! They should have seen it coming, in all honesty. I am a pretty patient person.. but I'm not THAT patient! :-/

And once a person is locked out... they're out for good. I just can't trust them anymore. And I move on and find others that I can trust to be nice to me. :-D

Has anyone found that they were more forgiving when younger? The older you get the more cynical you become.

Great post.
Funnily enough I feel the exactly the same and leave with a carefully phrased request not to do that again.
I agree, there comes a point where sometimes you have to say "I can't be with you" and cut them loose.

do you find it hard to confront friends when they hurt you or have you always been good at this?

that sounds like a good plan. people can be so cold sometimes!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!! I'M LEARNING TO DO THAT. ABUSE IS ABUSE. PEOPLE WHO LOVE AND CARE ABOUT US SHOULDN'T HURT US.....AT LEASTNOT MORE THAN ONCE OR TWICE...THANKS
