Singing Time

I work in a nursery and love doing 'Singing Time'.  Sometimes I get a tub and fill it with toys and prompts which represent a nursery rhyme. for example; a white candle for 'Up the Tall White Candlestick',  or a star for 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', or a toy bus for ,The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round'.  The children take it in turns to pick a toy from the tub, therefore choosing the next song to be sung.  I have also made some 'Singing Cards', pictures of various nursery rhymes;  a monk lying in bed for 'Frere Jaques',  a smiling worm for  'There's a Worm at the Bottom of the Garden', and five currant buns for the song of the same name etc.  Again the children choose which song they want to sing.  The children love to choose the songs.
