I Smile At Strangers
This world is too cold now, people have long since forgotten what it was like to smile and bring something to the table other than scoffed expressions and aversion. What happened to people expressing themselves more freely? It's not so hard to give someone a smile or say hello, hell even a nod one simple action. It can change the world and change the hearts of people who could be hurting inside, let them know that all is well, you're not alone, peace is possible and I'm willing to show you that you can lift your head and give me a smile back, because in the end we'll both be smiling for the better. Smiling releases chemicals in the brain similar to numbing pain in the body, it releases happy vibes in which alters your pattern of emotion, joy.
Anyway I'm not here to lecture or give an educational monologue, it's just that so much sadness blankets the world and no one seems to know how to share those feelings that are locked up inside. Of course people have their reasons but can't we look past that? We're capable of so many things and yet something so simple has been avoided for the sake of pride, semi-selfishness or just completely sapped into your own world that everyone else has been forgotten. People are around you everyday of your life, just granting that one smile or greeting can change their day exponentially for the better, it makes you feel good that you can be the hero of someone's bad day doesn't it?
Next time you run across someone try to smile to at least one person a day, no matter who it is just smile or if you're feeling comfortable enough greet them warmly too. You'd be amazed at the responses you could get, some will be indifferent, others will respond more gingerly. Either way still a step closer to achieving the smile that the world once lost.
