The real reason marijuana is illegal is entirely because cannabis ruderalis (hemp) is such a strong competetor for everything that those industries that were profiting from non-hemp based products pooled their money together to get it outlawed.

AfuckingMen. There is no reasons ciggerettes should be legal and marijuana shouldnt. I personaly have smoked ciggerettes and Marijuana. Marijuana is said to be his "devil" drug, its preceived to be so horrible. it is NOT a ******* equal to alchol or hard core drugs. It opnes no passage, bevause if you get bored of weed , which i find hard to belive, you just stop. you dont move on to mother ******* coke! People can be so closed minded. So there can be a comercial with a ******* camel with sunglasses on bascailly saying ciggs are cool, but god for bid a kid wears a Bob Marley shirt!? Anyone who is so against pot should just light up a ******* blunt and shut the **** up.

Weed is a wonderful experience and those who have not had it should not judge those who have. It should be legalized for the benefit of the tax payer. If legalized we would not be putting people in jail who have not harmed anyone or anything. As far as brain cells being harmed, that is a very weak argument. In America we spend almost half a trillion dollars to place people in jail for drug offenses. I wonder if that money could be better spent than to use it to ruin the lives of innocent people who are just having a good time? Now if a person harms someone while on drugs, then we have laws to take care of that, but to put them in jail at tax payer expense when they are smoking a little weed is self defeating. The war on drugs is a joke that is destroying our nation. I hope we wake up and realize that people have a right to take drugs if they wish as long as they do not harm anyone. Lets quit trying to legislate morality, or what we see morality as being.

Yeah, putting in my two cents here, I know LOTS of people who never did more than flirt with anything stronger than pot, and did not continue doing any of the stuff they flirted with; but still enjoy burning a fattie every once in a while. In the very same way that people like to have a nice, single-malt whiskey. It's recreational for them. They are regular people with families and responsible lives...hell, some of them are the straightest-seeming people imaginable.

So, whatever! to the notion of it being a gateway drug. I believe it is only that to people who have addictive personalities in the first place...those people are going to find a way to act out their addictiveness, whether it be through drugs, cigarettes, soap operas, alcohol, or religion (yes, some people use religion like a drug...that's why it was called the opiate of the masses by Karl Marx.

People who say it opens upon the doors to more serious drugs have no idea what they're talking about. I know heaps of marijuana users who have never/never wanted to try anything else ever.

I've done a few things myself, but I would never touch coke, heroin, meth, stuff like that, I'm not stupid.

Sorry if that was offensive, but it's true.
