Dig to China Or At Least Home

I don't want to run away from home, I want to run to it. In school especially. I sit in classrooms or walk past windows and doors and plan my escape. It gives me something to contemplate as school is extremely boring to me.

I've had ideas about it since they'd let us outside at recess in elementary school. One year I was obsessed with the idea that I could dig to China or at least to my house. My friends liked how cool the dirt was in the Texas heat, so they joined me, but they thought I was crazy. I still get made fun of it.

These days, I think about just standing up in class, walking calmly to the door and leaving. I wonder if my teacher would follow or what the other kids would say. Once I was out the door, I'd run. Just run down the hallway and out the door and run and run and run until I'm home. I laugh at the idea that I could get away with it but that I'd never do it.

I bet my classmates sit and think about doing the same thing.
