nfortunately everything that I want to run away from I'm pretty much sure would just go with me. I mean there's no running away from stupid diabetes. And there's no running away from my Dad's cancer. And the other stuff...wanting love in my life. Wanting to feel a strong emotional connection to people in my life, well that just exists as a perpetual state of disappointment for me. You know what I'd really like is that thing they had on Star Trek the Next Generation...can't think what it was called...drawing a blank...but the thing where you could step into a virtual world for awhile and into your own fantasy. That'd be cool. Just to escape problems for awhile. In my fantasy there would be a wonderful witty man who thought I was wonderful and we would snuggle and make love and talk and laugh all day and night.

  | Posted May 2nd, 2008 at 10:06PM It was called the "Holodeck" (as in hologram - I was a bit of a Trekie). But you know what? That might be fun for awhile, but essentially it would end up feeling 'hollow' (as in unfulfilling - excuse the pun, lol). It might sound hokey, but really, the only true fulfillment we find in life comes from within ourselves. You're probably thinking, "yeah, right, what the #@!%* does that mean?" Finding out for ourselves is, for most of us, a life long quest, and every experience, both joyous and heartbreaking, gets us closer to finding the truth. Often it is the heartbreaking ones that get us the closest...   |
