I agree, but most "friends" just use the real friends, I know how it is... If you know they are yanking your chain, tell them nicely, if it doesn't help, break friendship.

my friends are often like this. I see them we agree to meet up and then they come up with some lame excuse. I also seem to be the only one who bothers to try to make plans. I often wonder if maybe they don't actually like me and they are just being nice when I see them. My best friend though does this all the time but I do believe she does genuenly like me. I've stopped making plans with any of them, if they really want to met up they can call me and set it up!

So few everywhere Destry - filtering and focusing is a full-occupation - or else, accepting the time wasting implicit in most contacts

Many folks reduce their social interactions to a series of formulaic role-plays. One of them is the "we should get together" dance.

When they say it - it means nothing because they mean nothing by it. And, because "every bandit see a thief in every face he meets" they assume you mean nothing by it as well.

So, enough with the niceties - blow them off! Give them only what they give - formulas and bowing, with no intention of follow-up. Save the genuine for the genuine few.

These definitely are not friends Destry. Put them on what I call my "pay me no mind" list. Your time is more valuable that that!

My wife calls these people flakes. We have some flaky friends that we cannot ever count on. They never follow through with any plans.

If I were you, I'd go home and yank my own chain :)
