I tend to do this a lot when I am stressed out!

spacing out or what I call zoning-- is a gr8 way for the mind to shut down for a split second and reboot itself. I have sat down and "zoned out" for up to fifteen minutes at a time. Myself, although scary at times I find it to be very relaxing.
