Every year our local library has an 8 week summer reading program from tots to eighteen. At the end of the program, there's an award ceremony to recognize the participants and reward their hours of free-time reading. I sign my kids up every year. Parental reading counts for the kids' time, and parents get put in a drawing for a gift basket of goodies. Each book a parent reads, their name goes in the basket. yer! I've had the joy of reading beginner books up to teen themes. I have two favorite kiddie books now. Diary Of A Worm by Doreen Cronin ( I now want to get her newer book Diary Of A Spider!), and Dirt On My Shirt by Jeff Foxworthy. I highly recommend these for kids AND adults!
