I Still Remember September 11
I literally spent the week in Boston visiting family that week. Left Los Angeles on 9/5/2001 and was set to return to LA on Flight 11 from Boston to LA. As fate would have it, I had a free first class upgrade and didn't want to waste it on a breakfast flight. But they had no first class when I first booked my ticket. So I booked the 7:45 a.m. flight and simply planned to change it while in Boston to a later flight, if something opened up during the week. Well, all week nothing was open when I checked. Finally, the day before 9/11, I called in and... low and behold, a first class seat on the 11 a.m. flight to LA opened up. I switched.
The next morning, I was actually at the ticket counter at 8:45 a.m. when all hell broke loose. The woman behind the first class counter told me that someone was looking over my shoulder that day. She gave me my new ticket and I grabbed my bag that was supposed to be checked in. We were all in shock. Her last words to me were, "How do you think I feel... I just checked them all in?"
I later found out that she committed suicide a month later. Me... i drove back to Los Angeles to start my new lease on life. Check out the picutre of my plane ticket at http://www.facebook.com/gmoylan?v=photos#!/photo.php?pid=6776429&id=624272785&ref=fbx_album
