Daydreaming has been constant and uncontrollable for me since elementary school. There are times when I'm overjoyed that I have the ability to withdraw from reality so easily and times when I become extremely critical of this part of myself. Does maladaptive daydreaming disorder ever go away, or will I always be like this?

Honestly, I can't picture my life without it...

I had a major case of maladapative daydreaming as a child. Fortunately it got better once I turned 12, brain changes I guess. As a child I'd walk up and down the driveway bouncing a ball and daydreaming. It was like a compulsion. I felt like I had to do it, and couldn't stay still while doing it. So I'd either bounce the ball or walk around shaking an object. I was always very embarrassed about this and so relieved when it got better at age 12. No it doesn't totally go away. I still daydream a good bit but it does improve.

interesting..my activity was swinging on a swing. after that, it was walking back and forth in my room.
