The Funhouse Mirror That Is Anorexia

this is the opening to a book i'm writing, so please tell me what you think of it

We all remember the funhouse at the boardwalk as a kid, the slide, the moving floors, the ball pit. but what we remember the most is those funny made you look fat, one thin. the next made you have a big a child, we find them amusing. however, they exist hidden in our lives, whether you can see them  or not, and when we're big, they're just not fun anymore.

i awoke and grabbed some jeans out of my closet. normal day, normal 13 year old girl. i struggled and barely managed to button my pants, i checked the tag, children's size 14 slim. i turn to the mirror to see rolls of fat, chubby cheeks, and a pregnant looking stomach. why did nobody else seem to see? i walked into the bathroom and stepped on the scale, 75 pounds and 5 feet, 5 inches tall. that wasn't going to work. i ran out the door with a lame excuse to avoid breakfast, and i already knew how to avoid lunch and dinner. i was desperate to be perfect.

i was looking into the funhouse mirror that is anorexia
